NASCAR Busch Series Race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve aka Fast Cars and Fluffy Dogs | Case #021

This camera was found during the filing of my Alberta Primetime Interview.

The “Film”

A Canon 8MB Compact Flash Card.

The Camera

A 2 Megapixel Canon PowerShot A40. Released March 2002. It’s rare if not extinct to see a Manual option and CF card in an entry level point and shoot camera now.

The Photos

The metadata shows these first few shots were taken July 23rd, 2007. This is about 5 years after the manufacture of the camera. If our photographer bought it new then he’s had it for quite sometime. Looking at the camera, it was well maintained. The image count starts in the 300’s.

Next shot we see a hotel room, and what seems to be a self portrait. I adjusted the image a bit so we can see the gentleman a little easier.

These next two shots could be his son. I see a resemblance. Which would make the kid likely a grandchild.

Update: Thanks to Robbie and Linda for letting me know this is Montreal, and it’s the NASCAR Busch Series race held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

These look like the racing event takes place somewhere in the US, but I can’t be sure. I don’t know much about racing and the “dome” off in the distance doesn’t look familiar to me. These photos were taken August 4th, 2007, according to the metadata.

Update: Thanks to Robbie to informed me that car #29 belongs to Kevin Harvik, who won the race that day

The next set doesn’t give too many clues. About 30 photos were deleted in between August 4th and August 11th. I thought maybe to make room, as space is limited. These were taken in August and November of 2007. I think at the point the dates must be somewhat accurate because if you look, the dogs fur is much longer in the November shots than August.

The last two photos look like misfires, and were both shot February 22nd 2012. one could be a coin but it’s out of focus, the other is basically white. Another 10 photos are missing.

I took this last photo below to check to make sure the metadata is correct, and also to see if it actually still takes pictures and everything checks out. The memory card is full now so that explains the files being deleted. The metadata was spot on minus one hour, and that could be a time zone issue depending where this person lived.
